Open Question: Hard time choosing were too live in California (College Student)?

Mobile Estate Home (Not the home cars those ones build from wood its basically a cheap home) in Rowland Heights right next too the golf practice area, markets and such. They basically put a wall up.. so i have my possess private unit .. 1 Bed.. 3/4 bath and tiny living area no kitchen.. for around 560 a month full utilites including directv and internet... Its very clean area... but my parents hate it becuz i would be living in a mobile home. Full of asians here. Or go to Downtown LA (a bit dirty) For a nice size single room with kitchen and bath. for 650 no utlitles included but no parking... Only road... Nothing against blacks or mexican but im scared i would receive mugged or something or someone jack my car (Im asian and just 18). Which one?? my parents dislike the fact i would be living in the mobile place :/ but its alot cheaper and nicer area

Open Question: Why do we still store our dead?

Down the road from my home is a cemetery that I pass on my way into town. When I pass it, I always find it a little odd that it's a big chunk of land set aside for dead people storage. I understand that the reason behind the practice of burial is to put enough earth between the rotting corpse and the open air to eliminate the toxic and foul odor of decomposition. I mean, you can't just leave cadavers sittin' around stinkin' up the joint. I also receive a chuckle out of how fancy a modern casket is. every of that money wasted on a cushy interior that nobody's gonna receive to appreciate, clad in nice solid hardwood so that termites receive to like it just as much as the worms and beetles. If I had my way, everybody who doesn't need an autopsy to test for foul play would be an organ donor or a med school cadaver, and anyone left after that gets tossed in the crematorium. If the family wants some ashes back to store in an urn on their possess property (also a little weird to me) or to sprinkle in a poignant locale, that's fine too. And if you're upset that no cemeteries might mean no tombstones, we'll have a wall of plaques at the crematorium where you can put your name, dates, and epitaph. every I'm saying is that cemeteries are such a odd concept, especially considering how accepting of them society is. We revere them as hallowed grounds, but I look them as little more than dead people storage, dotted with ornate rock place markers holding a place for people who aren't coming back. I'd probably like cemeteries more if people had cooler epitaphs. When I walk through the cemetery, as I sometimes will, every I'm really looking for are silly names and witty epitaphs. At my friendly neighborhood graveyard we've got a guy named Satanik but every the epitaphs are lame. A guy and his wife, Olga Satanik. I wouldn't want to run into her before breakfast. Questions? Comments? Is anyone with me, or am I just a little crazier than most of you? If you don't have a good answer to this question, at least arrive up with a decent epitaph. Resolved Question: How many hits of acid do you need to hallucinate?

When I took it, I just had mind visuals and tracers. I was also feeling the walls and stuff because I thought the texture was chilly. I was disappointed though because I was tripping for almost 20 hours from just one tab and didn't hallucinate. I heard stories of where people are being chased by tigers and beers. My one buddy said that when he was driving, the light post touch the ground and the whole road lit on flame. Then when he got home the walls started closing in on him and the ceiling started to open and and he saw a pink blossom across the room. My other buddy that took it, was tripping in a corn field. He saw a concert in the sky that lasted for 4 days.Do I have to do like 10-20 hits to feel these effects. I was also on 2 X pills. Could the X in anyway prevented me from hallucinating.

Open Question: Why do people think Obama is a Socialist or Marxist?

I'm not asking whether or not you think he is. I'm asking you to state why you think he is or isn't, and provide some credible examples of policy implementation or proposals that prove he's a socialist or Marxist. Personally, I think he's been an incarnation of Bush light. He's caved incessantly to special interest, continued with the mandate of the Bush Doctrine of endless war in the Middle East, continues to provoke the Russians with the missile defense system in Eastern Europe, has abandoned the public option in health care reform, has clandestine meetings with corporate heads at the White home to devise policy, has given away hundreds of billions to banks and major Wall road firms at taxpayer expense, and has done very little to combat the fleecing of the American public by financial institutions. Obama thinks he can give a sexy speech about limiting CEO bonuses, consumer protection reform, healthcare reform, et al. But it's every for cosmetic purposes, and to make people think he actually cares and is willing to do something when he's really not. So I ask people, how has Obama been a socialist/Marxist, when his policies seem to contradict that notion in just about every way? I'm aware of Obama's books and speeches, which many have interpreted to support socialism or Marxism (or even support sympathies towards Islam). But a man is what he does, not what he says or writes. So I look at his policies, not what he says or writes to base my judgement on him. kpk02- Perhaps looking up "socialism" in the dictionary would benefit you. You certainly don't understand what it is. Your definition of "socialism" would bespeak more of fascism. I've also found it quite remarkable that most of the people that have taken the time to answer this question agree with me for the most part. The mindless lemmings that leach off of Glenn Beck's latest diatribe and logical lapses don't seem to be able answer this question because they have no depth to their beliefs. They just believe what they're told to believe. But they avoid any instance in which they might be confronted with facts and ideas that might force them to think for themselves.

Open Question: What should I do when a homeless guy attacks me and no cops do anything about it?

I was walking in my community and I look this same black creepy homeless man standing and bothering me for money! I have given him some change in the past and he never gives up asking and as of lately in the past month, I haven’t gave him a penny and would walk past him and try to ignore him and even try to be polite in saying a simple no and he still is begging and today for instance, the irony was, there was a cop in a police car sitting across the road from where he was standing and that homeless guy was standing there like a moron and I figured I would be safe because there were cops around if something happened and when I walked past him again, he begged for changed and I just sped off saying: “No” and HE STARTED TO CHASE ME AND GRAB MY NECK AND push ME AGAINST THE WALL AND YELLED: “hear MAN!!1 I AIN’T f*cking around anymore!!!!! EVERYDAY YOU DO THIS TO ME AND RUN OFF FROM ME LIKE YOU ARE SCARED!!!!!! I AM NOT GOING TO HURT YOU BUT SHOW ME MORE RESPECT!!!” And I was shouting: “HELP!!!!! OFFICER!!!” And I was trying to run over to that police car and I told the police officer who was sitting in the car and even the police officer saw it when he was trying to attack me and the cop didn’t do NOTHING ABOUT IT and just said: “That’s just old Jimmy! He is like that to everyone! Keep on walking! Or at least give the needy guy something! It wouldn’t hurt!” ” and I guess the cop knew him and didn’t help me!!! Open Question: Why is a stock exchange necessary?

I will plead ignorance on this matter. Clearly, the activities of Wall road are largely to blame for our current economic crisis. The focus on extremely short term profits has been detrimental for most American workers. Over the last century, the banks and brokerage houses have essentially taken over our government- and the big boys have set the rules for themselves, and have put their possess men in charge of regulating their possess activities, leading to the selective enforcement of law. Now, Americans have a choice, whether to accept the debt incurred by the banking speculators, onto the backs of the young and unborn, or liquidate the debt as illegitimate, putting the criminals in prison. My question is, if we were to start over, what benefit does the NYSE (and exchanges like it) provide society. Clearly, it has made stockbrokers inestimable fortunes, but it has also moved businesses overseas, made workers minimal stakeholders in the companies that employ them, and led to the ponzi-scheming crony capitalists (and the politicians whom they possess) to sit on atop of our nation like kings!

Open Question: Does anyone know the name of this game?

This is a pretty old game. At least 6-7 years old. Its a third player fantasy/action/adventure. The protagonist is this beefy guy with dark glasses who works for some organization (magical of course). Through the course of the game, you run around and learn new magical abilities from people. (Each time you learn something, you jump into the air, twist around in a huge cylinder of white light and fall back down.) These abilities are either attack ( throwing enchanted playing cards, some bone attack, etc.), defense (a wall of bones rise from the ground in front of you.. etc. ) or character building (magic shoes to run faster, mind reading ability, etc.) The main villain of this game is the protagonist's old professor who's turned to the dark side and his name is GOLGOMATH (This is the only detail i remember from the game.) So basically the hero runs around town talking to people on the streets and other locations (Remember, its third person view) doing missions and finally has to battle Golgomath. I vaguely remember that the hero is always on the phone with this female controller who's guiding him and there is a tiny boy who is central to the story. Plus there are a lot of puzzles to solve in the entire game. So. Can anyone pleeeeeeeeease tell me the name of this game? Please. Even if you're not sure about the name, any details, any remarks or anything you may remember/know regarding this game will be immensely helpful. Thank you. NOTE: I remember that there is a puzzle involving a dead cat in a graveyard behind a church, a puzzle involving taking passersby's help to beat a magician in his possess card game, an every-lights-on puzzle and a maze in a haystack farm.

Applying as a repeating junior I received 91st percentile on my PSATs Varsity Soccer since sophmore year (only two sophmores made the team) Head of Vestry Commitee A leader of the Student government as a junior. Head Acolyte Spokesperson my freshman year Amazing interview, he loved me. Straight A's freshman year at a school ranked ninth in the nation by the Wall road Journal. A's and B+'s my Sophmore and Junior year my tour guide wrote a great rec for me my teachers every wrote great recs I applied to my schools by myself and the boarding school knows this because i drove myself to my interview and i also did every of the calls and appointments *** important*** i received 3 letters for heads of soccer, skiing, and math departments last week and they said they heard from admissions that i was interesting in these things and that maybe I will look be participating for this boarding school next year.... I DONT KNOW IF THEY SEND THESE TO EVERYONE! My school doesnt offer APs but I was in Honors Math with an A-/B+, and Honors English with B+, and my physics was an A, spanish was an A, History was a B. interviewer liked the program that I participated in two summers ago and I am gathering supplies from company like staples etc, to help the native american people who live in Montana, my essay was def unique my worries are that i am applying as a repeat junior, my grades are not straight A's but i am way over average at a very competetive school, and my PSATs were at 91st percentile which is like a 185 i think and I am against very qualified students. I am not a guy who has tons of clubs or beaten by my parents to do well in school; i am self-driven and do things i think i like to do... so i am also scared that when im against that kid who is taking 1000 APs and in every comunity service thing possible, I will look like a joke... the interviewer also said that I was one of the most well-spoken individuals she had talked to this year and that i would be a wonderful addition to the debate team because i have a way with words and acting calm below pressure... thanks for the help, and hopefully u can tell me the chances that I have at being admitted to this extremely competetive boarding school

Open Question: my boyfriend pushed me.. abuse?? help me?

the first time we had a huge argument, he was drunk, i thought had to leave cos it was so bad. i was drunk as well, just wanted to snooze for a while, but it was the last day for us to stay together. i had to go back to my country, we didn't know when we would meet again. as soon as i told him to leave, he grabbed me, pushed me and said "what are you doing? you cant leave like this!! "he pushed me to the wall and pointed me blamed me. i was so scared then, but then he started crying and said "oh my god, what did i do? i did the same thing my dad did to me. i never did like this before" so i believed him and forgave him. when we met again. we stayed few months together, whenever we have argument, i tried to leave him, cos i know it makes him unhappy...and every the time,he grabbed me, pushed me on the road, called me 30 times to my phone.. and finally, he asked me to receive married to him after that happening. one day, he slapped me, compared with his ex, and said "don't act like you're innocent!!" and disappeared. when he got mad, he goes somewhere doesn't say anything. drinks some beer and comes back. but i have to look for him. the latest argument was terrible. it was just nothing, i was about to go out without him, just like he does. wanted to drink beer myself. suddenly he grabbed me, pushed my head to the wall and said, "i call kill you if i want! and do you know how i feel? i want to hang myself tonight!!" i wasn't afraid he did that to me, just worried he would hang himself....so forgave him again. and asked why he does do to me. he said "when i was with my ex, when we had argument, i just went out during her saying and didn't arrive back for few hours sometimes few days and came back, tried to figure out, i knew she would always be there, but i know you will leave when you say that, so im afraid of losing you." is it accpetable? i really dont know why he is doing like this to me. i wonder if he was abuse before he met me or he has really difficult time and because of me.

The sleek G Coupe Infiniti noiselessly rounded the road corner and crept alongside a flooded gutter. dirty muck sprayed the Athens Blue exterior and spilled onto the decaying road in a gurgling, bubbling rush; the driver cursed below his breath in annoyance and tightened his grip on the steering wheel until his knuckles grew white, feeling beads of sweat trickle down his forehead. For years he had done his job, prowling the city at night, searching, and never had he felt such dread. He glanced at the mangled row of cars lining the curb with a pounding heart. And I thought this town wasn’t civilized, he thought with a wry grin. Something flickered in his rearview mirror. A chill went up his spine. The warehouse was a grimy building made of dark brick, towering behind a chain-link fence and casting eerie shadows over the slums. Doors and rusted balconies decorated the side- but what everyone noticed were the four beacons that rested silently on the roof, high enough to touch the stars. It was legend that during the third World War, the beacons lit and an alarm sounded, noisy enough to be heard at the ends of the earth, when the country was below siege. Since then, it had lain vacant, closed off and protected by the police. And something moved there now. The man slowly turned off the ignition and swung the door open, not bothering to close it again. He crouched low to the ground and sidled across the road, darting behind an abandoned ‘92 Cadillac. He craned his neck over the hood and strained to look in the dim moonlight, one hand lightly resting on his leg. Seven figures quietly picked their way across the stretch of field and crowded outside of one of the warehouse’s crumbling walls. Excited murmuring reached the man’s ears- light voices full of playfulness, a nice of voice that seemed alien, yet at the same time flooded his mind with memories of a beautiful young adolescent, of an olive-skinned face that framed her smiling green eyes. Should I use it as a very short chapter, the first part of Chapter 1 explaining what happened, or just a prologue in hopes that the writing is good enough to hook them in and be read?

Open Question: I HATE my girlfriends father!!???!?

I don't have any respect for my girlfriends dad because he has called me names before and he treats her horribly. He has thrown her into a wall and man handles her every the time when he's really mad. I have put up a good front when I'm around him, only because of her, so he doesn't cause hell for our relationship but he makes me so mad and theres nothing I can do about it!!! She is 19 years old and almost 20. We have been together for almost 4 years. Last night she wanted to arrive to my home at 10:30 at night. Mind you, I live 5 houses down the road, but I walked over to pick her up. When i was standing outside her garage I heard her dad yelling at her and she told him "he is coming inside, go back to bed." and then i heard him call her an idiot. I got really mad and asked her what that was about. she told me he wouldnt let her go to my home at this time of night. Yet her sister who is only a year older is currently in Mexico just her and her boyfriend. I didn't want to go inside his home so I left. Im so sick of his bullshit!!! What am i suppose to do????

Open Question: Crazy, crazy, crazy dream, HELPPPP!?

I had a dream the other night, in the dream I was at this really big school with a lot of rooms; full of people. I was walking down the hall with a lot of people around me, (picture wall road)...it was like a movie because i was walking but the view was behind me...this short guy that was a grown man but his body was like a little boy was following me and had his right hand in his jacket next to his body like he was holding something...he walks VERY slow towards me and he shows me that his is holding a big knife, I start running away from him but he continues to follow me (like Michael Myers) I run into one of the classrooms and hide underneath the desk and he comes in looking for me, he couldn't find me so he walks out...i start running again into someone home...i start screaming and asking the family if they can call the police because a man is behind me trying to kill me. They assure me the police is on the way but the police never show up, then he busts into the home and walks towards me...I run away into the road to cease a car and ask them to call the police and they did, but the police doesn't arrive to help me...every time i look in the rear view mirror he was walking slowly behind me with that knife underneath his jacket...the car ran out of gas and i asked them to call Triple A *lol* but he caught up to us but the car was stuck on the inside so i couldn't open it...he breaks the window and was about to stab me when i woke up...HELPPP!

Open Question: Im not satisfied with my life or who i am. Help?

Im not an emo kid or anything i dont hurt myself in any way, im just a normal kid wearing todays style. Sometimes i receive the feeling like i dont want to live anymore or that this world just isnt worth living in. Sometimes i just receive so mad or upset at something that i just feel like killing them or killing myself. In my head sick always think of ways to kill that person and i dont even realize it until its over. I feel like im a pussy or something, because everytime i finally retaliate to something that angers me it every turns into a blur. I dont want to say i black out but like when its over i cant remember how it happened. Its so weird i dont understand it and i cant explain it. I feel every my anger bottling up inside and someday i know its every gonna explode. When i try to take my anger out on something i usually punch a hole in my wall or hit myself. Even when i just hold it in, i feel depressed and mad and just feel like dying. Sometimes i just feel like going in the road and killing a random person, but thats a horrible thing to do and i know this. Theres times i receive so mad that red dots appear every over my face or sick punch my self in the face or head. I'm 15 and Ive never had a real girlfriend. I feel like im not good enough, i cant seem to find something good about myself. I feel like nobody understands me. Theres times when sick be walking and i just feel like killing myself. I feel like it would just be so much easier if i was dead, every the pain, anger, and frustration would just go away, but if i did this i know i would go to hell. At times i feel like my very soul is trapped. I question my possess religion sometimes, i know this is so wrong but i cant help but think about it. One particular experience is that i was walking at the mall by myself buying some clothes, when i looked over the railing and i thought to myself "i should jump off right now and just die, it would be so much easier to be dead". I just cant bring myself to do it. I feel like such a pussy and a little bitch for feeling like this. Then when my mom picked me up i started crying in the car and she asked me what was wrong and i just couldn't bring my self to tell her the truth. This has been going on for several years now, like ever since 6th grade and im currently in 9th. Whats wrong with me, how can i help these urges?

Open Question: Limited range rifle for pest bird elimination?

I am an avid bird watcher. I also take every opportunity to eliminate pest birds, namely european starlings and home sparrows. In my back yard or my neighbor's back yard (with their blessing) I eliminate 20-30 pest birds in a good week. I've been using a Daisy 880S a good 2.5 years now. I upgraded to a 2-7x20mm scope. I can make head shots on sparrows a good 25 yards away on a consistent basis. What I want is the starlings on the electrical lines. The pellet will have to leave my yard, cross my neighbor's yard and the road. That's easily 50 yards, maybe 60 yards. My back porch is eye level to these electrical lines. There's no homes on that side of the road. There is about 150-200 yards of swampy woods, then about 50 yards of clear land to an apartment building. In the summer, I can't look the building. In the winter, I can't look it well, but at night, I can look the lights on the building pretty clearly. They are 250-300 yards away. More than half of that is woods. Will my pellets going 700 fps reach the apartments? Right now, my missed shots (and kills) mean my pellets hit the ground. I have to be silent. Firearms are not allowed here. I can't take the risk of a pellet traveling that far, or am I over reacting? When I was a kid in the 1980's, we had an over ground pool. The neighbor kid shot it with a pellet gun. Pierced the steel wall and liner at a good 200 yards. One of his pals ratted him out. Who'd think a pellet gun could do that nice of damage from that far away? I realize that may have been a 1000 fps pellet rifle, about 50% more powerful than what I have, but still surprising. Thanks.

Open Question: What does this scary dream about the afterlife mean?

Last night I dreamt that me and about 10 other people, some of whom I knew, were in a room together with a man with a gun. Strangely, I was male, although I'm female in real life. He decided to shoot me and 3 of my friends. He shot each of them in the head and shot me in the neck. I could barely feel any pain and was still alive, but I was scared that something worse would happen or that I'd be in pain soon, so I begged the gunman to shoot me in the head so I'd be put of my misery before I could feel pain. He shot me in the head but I didn't feel it and I didn't die. My friends who'd been shot weren't dead either, so I turned to one and said, "Isn't it weird that we've been shot but I don't feel any pain and we're not dead?" To my absolute horror my pal said, "We ARE dead. Take a look around." I looked and saw that the bodies of those of us who had been shot were seperated from our spirits. We were now just our spirits. My mom was in the room, still alive and looked traumatised to look her child dead. I tried to comfort her and sto the gunman from hurting anyone else but my spirit body was like air, it was useless, I couldn't do anything. But I now realised I was suddenly female. My dead pal told me that after being shot in the neck my body was lying on the floor gurgling. The gunman had shot me in the head to finish me off, he hadn't known I'd asked to be shot in the head because that was my spirit body asking, not my physical one. My friends decided to leave and go back to the home that one of them lived in. They somehow realised that in this afterlife every you had to do to go somewhere as close your eyes and visualise it and you would go there. I clung onto her hand as our spirit bodies travelled, I was terrified I'd receive lost and separated from them. When we got there, at first we could look the living people who lived there, and people in the streets but the longer we were dead, the more the living faded from our view and eventually disappeared. Soon we could look the physical world, be in houses, walk down the road etc, but the living were totally invisible to us. We could look other dead people though, like an old lady putting strips of paper up on the wall, as if it was some nice of protection from something. I asked her what she was doing but she ignored me. I went into the garden and saw my cousin. She had not been shot, but somehow her spirit had got out of her body and her body was still alive somehow. I didn't realise this at first so when I saw her body standing in a deep hole I said "What are you doing?" He body pointed to her spirit on the other side of the garden and said, "I'm over there." Her spirit was also down a hole, but seemed to be having a good time experiencing "spirit stuff" and so ignored me. Me and my shot friends decided to go on holiday to Amsterdam so we closed our eyes and visualised it. We got there and here we could still look living people going about their business. I was still shocked and scared that I was dead and was really disappointed at how mundane the afterlife was, and scared that no spirits had arrive to tell us if it would be like this forever or not. I watched the people of Amsterdam walking around and thought, "If they knew how horrible the afterlife is, and how scary it is to be dead, I wonder if they would carry on living such mundane lives or if they'd make a change now?" Then I started waking up and can't remember if anything else happened. What does it mean? Also in real life I have often felt suicidal and even attempted suicide once, I have never wanted to live. But in this dream, once I was dead I realised the afterlife was no better and felt cheated of my life, I wished I could live again.

I was wedged in between the side of a brownstone and the back door of a Sex Pistols memorabilia store when I heard a voice say, “You lost, chick?” I jumped and turned swiftly on my heels. In the corner, there sat a girl, she was about my age. It took me a while to realize that she actually wanted an answer. I shook my vehemently. She took a drag from her cigarette and exhaled a thick white plume. She glared at me, “You want one?” Again, I shook my head, shaggy blonde hair tickling my face, “Where you headed anyway?” she asked. Open Question: What do you make of Obama's father like chiding of insurance companies for raising premiums?

I am every in favor of substantial health care reform. I have noticed this habit obama has of criticizing executives of major corporations for trying to make profits. This makes no sense at every. Its almost like a "please please messrs, CEO's can you please act right and not be so greedy"?? He did the same sort of thing regarding the CEO bonuses for wall road etc.. I always felt that its not the govt's job to plead with any industries or businesses to do "the right" thing...the right thing for any business is to make money. So if govt wants to have them behave a certain way, it simply needs to make laws or policies to make sure the behavior they want is what happens. this please please will you do the right thing attitude is a joke as it really just proves that these politicians dont have the independence to challenge businesses any more like they used to be able to do in the USA decades ago.

It was said before by republicans that it was supply and demand. They every say now how horrible the economy is and how high unemployment is...so I ask...obviously supply is plentiful, demand is diminished, what nice of junk will you use to spin this? Oil has gone up $20 a barrel in a year...could it be it's the greedy wall road speculators artificially raising the prices of oil...AGAIN? no can't be that....could it ?? Open Question: Buying Stock in APPL, newbie question.?

I want to buy stock in Apple, but I don't live close Wall road and know nothing about stock trading. This is what's going through my head: If $500 enough to receive me started? Should I call a stock broker or use some online service? Which one? Apple's a strong stock, what's the worst that could happen? As I understand it, the theory if "Buy Low and Sell High", but what do I do with the money in between? Put in in another stock? Thanks for helping a n00b out. I just learned that I have to pay a fee for every time I buy and sell a stock... What online companies charge the lowest fees? Do stock brokers pay fees?
